WIERD ASS DAY.....

Got up to go to school, was driving there and I got a call saying that it was senior cut day and my student was not in, so I should not bother sitting in traffic and making the trip in. AWSOME!! except, I had to go in to turn in my time sheet anyway.

On my way home, I stopped at Safeway to get some supplies for the weekend. 10 pound bags of carrots on special!! Happiness is fresh carrot juice.

While I was in the produce section, an old man shuffled up to me and hauled off and slapped me across the face. I dropped the articoke I was holding and just kind of stood there in shock. His daughter came rushing over and grabbed him, profusly apologizing saying he had never done anything like that before.. Obviously, he had Alzhiemers or dementia or something. I told her not to worry about it and went on about my business. It made me sad tho.. The poor guy.

So I have the next 4 days off (Five if you count today.) I am too poor to really do anything and the roomies (Mom and Dad) are going out on the boat for the weekend. They offered to take me along, but it is Kbear's Birthday and we are having a BIG party for her at the bar. It's not a suprise.. I managed to suprise her for years, but there is just no way to do that anymore... Or so she thinks... She may know about the party, but she does NOT know what I am DOING for the party.....MUAAHAHAHAHAHAHA

call me mean but I would've slapped him back and then bitched out the girl for not caring for him better and guilted her for not putting in a position for him to do that (a senior center or retirement community.

Poor old fella - and I can't even imagine what the daughter is going through. You're a sweet man for not making such a big deal about it. I'm sure she has enough to worry about...

It was obvious looking at him that he wasn't there.. I have been around people with Alzhiemer's before and it can happen that way.. One minute they are perfectly lucid and it is safe to have them out at the grocery store on a beautiful day for an outing.. Then Wham! They are gone. The daughter had tears in her eyes.. I was standing there with a stinging face and all I wanted to do was hug her.. Her life is HELL right now. The last thing she needed was for me to bitch her out over a little slap. I lived, there was no damage done. It hurt a bit, but I get slapped recreationally all the time.. True, it's different when I consent to it, but still.. If I had made a big deal out of it, maybe this old man would never get the opportunity to be out on a beautiful sunny day in spring again... I could not live with that. I can with a slap. I just hope she keeps a better eye on him....
