Back to school!
Jan. 9th, 2006 07:37 amWinter term is starting at Portland Community College today, and my schedual there this week is full! I have about 25 hours between my regularly schedualed classes and subbing gigs this week, which is about the max that my body can handle for interpreting. I am so stoked.
The other piece of good news about that is that I was asked to be a mentor interpreter for an intern from PCC's Interpreter Training Program, so on Tuesdays I will have aminion student interpreter with me. I have mentored before and I ALWAYS learn as much, if not MORE, from them and the process than they learn from me.
The only trepidation I have?? I have an architechture class, and I can't for the life of me remember the sign for architecture...LOL.. (House draw?? Tech draw?? DAMN IT!!) Oh well.. Hopefully, I will go on autopiolt and the hands will remember when the word is said. If not, I'll just ask the student what sign they use. I am SO not fingerspelling THAT more than I have to.
It will feel good to get back to interpreting... I have cut down to two nights a week at the porn store, so sleeping and a social life may once more be possible.
WOOT!
