Today in an article appearing in the San Francisco Chronicle, Bush, asked about his lack of popularity is quoted as saying: "I didn't compromise my soul to be a popular guy," going on to say that presidents who make decisions based on opinion polls "Fail.."

Sigh... After eight years in office, Mr. Bush, I would have hoped that you would have at least learned one thing. Namely, that the context in which we are talking about popularity here is not the same context as it was in your coke-snorting, booze guzzling college days, with "Popular" guys in sports cars and "Popular" girls in fancy clothes and with secret birth control pill prescriptions.... No, sir.. The context in which we are talking about popularity here is in the context of democracy, in which you were elected *cough* to govern for the populace.

Failing to govern according to the will of the populace in a democracy does not make you a wise, but misunderstood leader, Mr. Bush.... It makes you a despot.

Ha ha! Bush is pretty spry, that shoe was right on target. I keep reading that Bush's approval rating is 29% but I wonder what his global approval rating is. Much lower I'd wager.
