The Goddess Afsoun is too good to drink from a mere bowl of water. Nay, even if that bowl is my finest china (which, admittadly, is not all that fine). No, Afsoun has heard the toilet referred to as "The Throne" and since that fateful day, only that water is suitable for Her Holiness the Tranny Kitty. I left the seat closed before going to work. My Lady, am I in trouble..... Denied access to that cistern of yellow hanky-inspiring eau for almost 10 hours! THE HORROR!!! Why, She almost died of thirst!!! (Nevermind the still FULL bowl of perfectly fresh and FILTERED water I put down for her this morning.)

Oh.. and while I am burying this at the bottom of a cute kitty entry, don't for ONE SECOND think I don't want oodles of attention..... Today, I am 2 years clean and sober and one year off cigarretts. Yay me!

Bowl of Water is static, stale, unaerated and comes from the filthy human food and petting slave.

Toliet Water is moving, frequently freshened, often cooler, more aerated and comes right from the "spring."

i completely agree: YAY YOU.
i'll pretend to say that inattentively if it makes you feel any better ;)

dude. if you really wanted to break your no-buying vow, you could always get Her Highness a water bowl that constantly moves around and areates itself like a little fountain. My friends got one for their cats, bcs they're yuppie doting dads that way, and if you're interested i'll find out what this thing is called and how they purchased it. Or one of your pals will read this and know what i'm talking about and beat me to it. either way, i'll just bet She wants one ;).

Cool!! We established already that HER HOLINESS THE TRANNY KITTY, Afsoun (hereafter reffered to as HHTTK, Afsoun) has not agreed to no stinkin' compact.. I got her a new litter box and cat carrier as even the mere suggetion of used stuff for her causes her to look at me like, "Try it, hairy human dirt slave... You have to sleep sometime."

I've also heard good things about the various water fountains for kitties. I'm sure there are others, but here are a few options:
brand 1 (http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441778449&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302025542&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023690&bmUID=1143013057822&itemNo=5&In=Cat&N=2025542&Ne=2)

Yeeeah - Plantgirl and Adamantine know what i'm talking about - their examples even look like little toilets, kinda, and include a stream of water in addition to the moving pool. The one my friends have is black and spaceshippy-looking and mostly the cats drink out of it but sometimes they look at it like they're confused. When i'm at their house saturday i'll find out what brand it is - but maybe the others are better suited for being ersatz drinkin'-johns.

hairy human dirt slave is my favorite phrase today.

Additionally, cats have apparently been following a trend which, once beyond our comprehension, we hairy human dirt slaves have only now begun to pick up:

Congrats on an excellent job.

You know what might work as a watering hole for Afsoun? A fountain. I was given a very large fountain made from a recycled potter's wheel basin, with an aquarium bubbler sealed into the center with silicone. With a large slate piece over it, and various nice colored rocks on top of the slate, it made an interesting self-contained indoor fountain.
Except, my cats took to drinking from it.

I beleive they sell cat watering "dishes" that operate on teh same idea--that the cat prefers moving/running water.
I imagine any indoor fountain would work, if it was made of non-toxic materials.
Or, try this--I just googled it.

That is, if you're really set on having her majesty not drink outta the john....

Have you considered getting rid of the menace, cats are evil. Plus it reminds you of soimething you don't want to have.

Yeay! Congrats on the anniversary.:) Iggi won't drink from a waterbowl either. She has her own personal glass that has to be refilled with fresh cold water several times a day. Thankfully she didn't discover the flushable bowl!

YES!....why do cats do this? Even when it's...lets say....far from drinkable (WAY far, in fact!) my Harriett has to drink out of the toilet!

I made a point to freshen the water bowl more frequently...no dice! OK...I admit it...I even provided bottled water (Hell even I won't drink the tap water here) ...still. there she goes! SIGH!

I am a mean Daddy to our cats and I routinely close the lid. Sure cuts down on the scooping of litter clumps. I figure when they get thirsty, they'll drink the clean water.

And I'm so happy you're sober today and your breath is minty fresh. xoxo
