Aug. 18th, 2005 10:51 pmTomorrow, I pack my truck and leave the only home I have known (As in the Bay Area, not an ACTUAL house)for 35 years. I leave behind some really wonderful people.... Some of which I have just gotten to know in the last month or so, others I have known for years.
I don't know about this...
I do know that I will miss so much and so many...And I know it is time.
Morsel, Your gift touched me more than I can even begin to feel right now. Your presence in my life has been total and wonderful and I am looking forward to years more of it, even though it may be a few hundred miles further from my house to yours. Like you, I suck at goodbye.. So this is 'See ya'. Something I could not do on the street tonight.
Gauge, I just met you and already you have had a profound impact on my life. Being the catalyst for such a spiritual change in another's life is, I am sure, not new to you, But it was vital for me. Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you again soon too.
I am glad I got to spend my "last day" seeing you two. It was a perfect wrap up
Now I just need to talk to Kbear.. Tomorrow from the road.. That will be best, since some of our best times have been on the road.
Good lord, I am maudlin.
Good night all, when next you hear from me, I will have moved all into my fabulous new place in Portland. Internet gets hooked up on Monday. More then.

Movin'
Date: 2005-08-24 02:59 pm (UTC)Moved back down here because my sister had a kid and a variety of other reasons and had a similar experience. I was ready to leave SF at the time. The rents were astronomical, the pocket book lean, and I needed peace and quiet. I moved to a place that was so quiet that you could hear a car turn off onto our road from a mile away.
I tend to miss people and my vacations seem to turn around visiting friends rather than site seeing.
You'll make friends in Portland, have new adventures, find faaabulous places to eat, and folks will come visit. The best part of that is that you'll get to not only catch up, but share some of the spectacular finds that you've made in the meantime. While SF ain't exactly a hop, skip and a jump, Southwest Airlines has specials come up all the time, so with a bit of preplanning you can really stretch your dollar.
Wishing you the best.
