So, I seem to have a lot of new and FABULOUS people on my friends list!! Who are you? Where have you come from?? Tell me about yourselves.... *Plops down with popcorn*
Whitr talked you up, and I checked your LJ and said, "What a cool person! And what a hot bear! Wowser!"
I'm Rob. Umm... I'm 39, queer female of varying gender weirdness, Asatru via paganism via Anglican church (its a long story) and sober for a while. I live in Alameda with my SGF (Stupendous Girl Friend) and four very bossy cats. I'm in school to end up being a therapist.
I have read at journal! Interesting and lively!! Thanks for friend-ing me and welcome to my world!! I like to at least have had some correspondance with the people on my friends list so I know which filter groups to put them in...
*laugh* My journal interesting? I guess so. I post things from the utter mundane (I want ice cream) to somewhat soul baring. And quizzes. Yeah, I post quizzes. *shrug* What can I say?
Hm, to try and answer your original questions....
I'm a gay man who just turned 39, living with my long-term partner (12.5 years!) and our dog in sometimes sunny San Diego, CA. I'm into sci-fi stuff, politics, and exploring the nether reaches of my mind. Currently, I'm in the IT field, but hope to eventually change careers and become a full-time novelist. I'm "bearish" in philosophy, and certainly in prediliction, but not in physical form. I have a lot going on in my head an not enough tools to deal with it, but that's getting better. In my mind, I'm far from normal, but many of my college friends consider my partner and I the most normal people they know, which I try to take as a compliment (as I'm sure it's intended).
I have no recollection how I stumbled upon your journal, but most likely I saw a response you made in some mutal friend's, and found your response to be intriguing. I then likely read a page or two of entries, looked at your info page, and thought that I'd like to get to know you better by subscribing to your journal. (You're also quite a fine lookin' fellow, so I have to admit that I'm shallow enough to enjoy having handsome men showing up on my friends page...)
Hope that's helpful. Since I have no idea what filters you may have created, I can't be more specific.
i just moved to alabama from san diego where i had lived for 12 years. i miss it a lot. my partner is worth moving for, but i'm beginning to crave the beach.
I'm a compact and portly bi leatherman with a red beard. I currently live in the midwest but have traveled and lived in many places (Africa, Australia, Alaska...). I'm in graduate school for geology and will be moving back to the west coast and getting a teaching certificate at some point soon. I don't know how I happened upon your journal, but I like what you have to say.
I saw your comment on someone's LJ awhile back and shallowly chose to check out the pic, and saw something worth reading further, and lo and behold you're not only a terp, but pagan, and a bear! Hot combo! ;o)
As for me, I'm 32, live in Minnesota, non-bear (but partnered to one for almost 7 years), occasional artist, sometime writer, full-time gardener, and student of traditional foodways. *sneaks extra butter onto your popcorn* I love real, unprocessed food, and like you, I am exploring ways to ditch white sugar permanently. :o)
and like you, I am exploring ways to ditch white sugar permanently. :o)
Thanks.. Someone earlier mentioned Mint Chocolate chip ice cream on their journal... I miss Mint chocolate chip ice cream. A LOT. I needed the reminder... White Sugar=BAD.
I am not perfect at it yet.. But I am getting better.. It's Corn Syrup that I have fully cut out.
Yes, avoid corn syrup and its evil siblings: high fructose corn syrup, maltose and dextrose.
Incidentally, I have a mint chocolate chip ice cream recipe to die for. It helps to have an ice cream maker, access to decent cream (do not use ultra-pasteurized dairy products if you can avoid it), eggs from pastured hens, honey, and peppermint extract, as well as some decent chocolate (the darker the better, b/c that has less white sugar than the regular junk-- try Green & Black's organic 70% dark chocolate). It will taste better than the store-bought variety any day.
I make strawberry ice cream when berries are in season and let me tell you, it goes fast... and it's coming up next week when strawberries are ripe! Yay!
i'm jeff, and i found you through whitr. i'm originally from NJ, but i now go to school in WI. i used to live in a co-op that served the the most horrendous food ever (cajun marshmallow couscous and "barbecued" "chicken," anyone?). i now live in a house with Tony "The (Spunky) Cooter" Trapp, and our friend enzie will be moving in with us when her current lease expires in august. i'm in a long distance relationship of nearly three years with darkphuque. i'm currently without religion, but i attended Presbyterian services growing up, moved to Wicca in my early teens, then evolved to eclectic neopaganism before gradually realizing that that path didn't suit me anymore. i'm too ironic and cynical for my own good sometimes. i enjoy cooking, playing guitar with my band Of The Order Carnivora, geeking out over icelandic music, toying with black/white film photography, and buttsex.
oh, and i should mention that one of the things that i found really nifty about you was that you're into play piercings. i've never done it/had it done to me (and i'm not sure if it's something i'm ready for), but i am certainly intrigued by it, and years of allergy tests, blood withdrawals, vaccines, acupuncture, and on-the-job needle sticks have basically killed my fear of needles.
of course, it also helps that i hang out in a social circle where getting sharp pointies stick through your cheeks is considered a great way to make a night at the hook suspension show even more fun.
...I came into your den via...well, I can't quite remember. Someone's friends list. Maybe hossinseattle, but I'm not sure.
Seeing "I USED TO BE NORMAL, BUT IT DROVE ME MAD" from your info page, made me curious enough to go into your website. I liked what I read. And the clincher is your eyes are very much like Tattoo'd Bear's, who is a good friend of mine.
I'm...well...strange. Queer. Opinionated. Big heart. Ferociously loyal. Fiercely passionate. Believe in the "other" that you can never find on multiple choice tests. See our world as an AND instead of an OR place.
You made a response to a post by aidan_boi_x, and when I looked you up I liked what I saw/read. Plus we share a friend in wearbear and others I'm sure.
about me....I am a queer transguy, recent transplant to huntsville, alabama from san diego, calfornia. let's see, a personal ad for me might read: poly ftm transguy queer drag king geek liberal wiccan former porn shop clerk seeks open-minded ?? for long talks about good books, scandalous behavior in public, random visits to porn shops, bitching about the state of television and the media in general, and finding subtly subversive ways to push people's buttons.
or depending on the day, it might just read: poly ftm transguy looking for hot bottom for hours of pleasure illegal in most states
hello hello~ i'm: a 26 yr old queer polyamorous genderfucked pre-everything transguy... intensely spiritual yet non-denominational... a total Pervy McPervsalot...
