HOLY crap!!!
Aug. 4th, 2005 10:51 amI have an apartment... At least I think I do... The owner/landlord loved me.. Said the credit issues were not a problem... He needs to run the application, but his words were 'As a formality'. Its a fabulous apartment. Its big. It's light. It has a front and back door amd a little yard-like thing. It has new carpeting and newly insulated and sound proofed walls. It has new appliances in the otherwise kinda old and sorta less than ideal kitchen. It has a nice sized bathroom. It has lots of closet space. It has a storage unit near my off street parking place. It's in an awesome neighborhood near hiking trails that I walked this morning with Sir and near the terribly hip neighborhood of Hawthorne that I have started calling Haight Street North. It is near the light rail which runs downtown. It is around the corner from Sir's house. It is near TWO, count 'em TWO, Fred Meyers and a wonderful grocery store with awesome produce and organic foods. It has on site laundry. It has 6 units total in the building and at least one, possibly two queer neighbors.
And the kicker??? It's $550.00 a month and that includes utilities(Water, Heat, Garbage/recycling). All I pay is electricity and internet.
I pick up the keys tomorrow morning, if all goes as planned, and sign the lease and give him my $200.00 move in deposit!! And I'll take pics.

Date: 2005-08-04 06:48 pm (UTC)Congratulations on the move...Portland is a beautiful town. I think you're going to love it there.
you're just inspired me to completely rethink my 10-year plan
Date: 2005-08-04 06:50 pm (UTC)'k pardon me while i pick my jaw up off the floor - is $550 mo for a whole apartment indicative of average non-richy-neighborhood rates in P'land? Because, uh, shit. Even if it's the size of a shoebox, still i say, shit.
i smell a mass exodus in the near future.
in 2 years, i'm totally going to start looking for jobs there. you better fucking stay in that city so i'll have a friend when i move ::shakes fist threateningly:: ;).

Date: 2005-08-04 07:15 pm (UTC)I'm glad you like the apartment....didn't you say it was on/around 60th @ Burnside (is that East or West side)? That's a pretty cool location. If you head a few blocks over to Sandy, you'll find some great Thai & Vietnamese restaraunts. There's also a pretty good place for breakfast -- Tosis -- around that area.
And of course on the other side of Burnside, you'll find the awesome Music Millenium (32nd @ E. Bside, I think) and the rawkin' Doug Fir (7th or 8th @ E. Bside) which has pretty good food and is a great place to catch live music.
