On Friday, July 4th, after I got off work at three, the Ruling Reddcub and I headed over to Bend, in central Oregon, where his Mom and sister live, and his Aunt Caroline was visiting for the holiday. Now, I may have neglected to mention how much I enjoy the company of Mom and Aunt Caroline, so let me clarify: they are a HOOT and a half!! I had previously never met the sister or her family, but the Ruling Reddcub Family proved to be an all fun-loving, all fabulous group of people. I had a great time!
And Bend... Oh... Bend.... What a place! I loved it there and if I could, I would buy a house on the river in Drake Park in the middle of town and move there in a heartbeat. Friendly, polite and constantly smiling, happy people and some of the most breath taking, amazing landscape I have ever been in. High desert to snow-capped, pine forested mountains, swathed in jewel-colored lakes. In the same weekend, I was hauled to the top of a gigantic ancient volcano crater raising out of the middle of the desert and surrounded by sage and tumble weed, and I sat on the shore of a mountain's blue lake and watched a Bald Eagle fish against a back drop of snow capped peaks.
I loved it there.
Of course, it's a four hour drive home, and unable to tear ourselves away, the boy and I reluctantly left after eight, so Monday, I was feeling every bit of the over doing it from the weekend. I leaned over at work, and had a leg spasm so strong, it through me out of the office chair I had transfered into and I bashed my elbow good on the desk while going down. I came home and slept most of the day. Today, I am still spasm-ing, and I also slept most of the day, working only five hours from three thirty until eight thirty.
But work I did, and I am so glad I did, as it was the last day that Shawna, a visiting interpreter from Connecticut was here before she leaves to go back to get ready for a five month pilgrimage to Europe with the luckiest twenty one year old New Zealander that ever was. You know how some people you meet and just instantly click with? Yeah... Shawna, my fellow Princess, you and I have simply got to hang sometime outside of work. Girl. We're like, separated at birth. Bon voyage, may your trip be everything you hope for and more!
There will be more pics from Bend soon.... But here's a sneak peak..
