When criticizing the strike and those of us that excercised our personal choice to participate, let us not forget that there are many kinds of strikes. Those of you that think that strikes are only designed to be punitive, strong-arm, bullying tactics to force change in some kind of David versus Golliath struggle need to reread your social justice theroy. Strikes can and do serve many purposes, not the least of which is to cause individuals to reflect on thier own place in the system that makes whatever ickiness we are striking against work. Or perhaps we are striking just as a consciouness raising excercise.

So, when you ask what the point of the strike was, and rage about how futile and unsucessful it was, you should be doing two things instead:

A) Asking yourself if YOU reflected on your part in the problem

Or failing the humility to do that,

B) Realizing that you are, in your complaining itself, talking about the issues and forwarding the agenda anyway.

I'd say that defines "Mission accomplished."

Exactly.

I unwittingly participated in the strike, but would have supported it anyway. Damned "real" work!
