LOoooong day...
May. 14th, 2005 09:24 pmMe, Mom and Dad all piled into Dad's Pacifica (It's an SUV!! Not a damn MINIVAN! sez Dad) to go visit my Sister and her new Boy friend and My niece her fiance (More about that in a second) and their kid. They live in Oakhurst.. Which is near Yosemite. Beautiful. REMOTE. Far away. 3 hours in the car with Mom and Dad. 2.25 hours of Dad basically telling me not to be myself and to keep my mouth shut when we got there, cuz everyone knows my sence of humor sucks and I am just obnoxious and no one wants to hear my liberal crap today. He probablly would have gone on , but I got tired of being tolerant and SHUT HIM DOWN. We ended up having a nice day.. Hurt feelings and all..
My niece was supposed to be getting married today, but seeing as she is under 18, there was some problem with the licence and they didn't get to go through with it. Instead we went out to dinner. My niece has a two year old. She pretty much ignored me all day.. EXCEPT, after dinner, she got to pick a toy from the resturant's toy box.. She picked a paddle ball thingy....Immediatly after she grabbed it, she threaded her way thru 7 people to find me and hand it to me. Yeah. A Paddle. How'd she know? Kids amaze me.
On the way home, we were listening to one of Dad's facsist radio stations and we heard the tail end of a caller tlaking about how her son was gay for all of his life until he got into a car wreck. When he woke up from the car wreck he had totally forgotten he was ever gay. He got married and everything. Mom was insulted and mad.. Dad and I were cracking jokes about it.
Dad: "Yeah! Until he wakes up one morning next to his wife screaming, 'OH MY GOD THESE SHEETS ARE HORRIBLE AND EEEEEEEEK! WHO ARE YOU???????'"
Me: " Yes.. Little bobby forgot ALL about being gay after the car wreck until one day he was in the Piggly Wiggly and a can of pork and beans fell on his head. Now he's wearing dresses and calls him self Miss Thing."
I'm thinking that dad just needed coffee this morning.
